Privacy Policy

Last updated: 19 July 2026

LocalOnly is built privacy-first. Your content is processed entirely on your device and is never uploaded to a server. This policy explains exactly what we do and do not collect.

Introduction

This Privacy Policy describes how LocalOnly("LocalOnly", "we", "us" or "our") handles information when you visit https://localonly.dev and use the tools we provide. LocalOnly is a collection of browser-based developer utilities that run entirely on your device. We designed the service so that the sensitive data you work with never has to leave your computer. By using LocalOnly, you agree to the practices described in this policy. If you do not agree, please discontinue use of the service.

We have written this policy to be as clear and honest as possible. Where third parties are involved, such as our advertising provider, we describe their role plainly rather than hiding it behind vague language.

Our privacy-first principle

LocalOnly is a fully client-side application. When you format, validate, convert, encode, hash, or otherwise process data with our tools, all of that computation happens locally in your web browser using standard browser APIs. This design has several important consequences:

  • Everything runs locally. The tools execute as JavaScript on your own machine, not on a remote server.
  • No files are uploaded. Anything you paste, type, drag and drop, or open is handled in-browser and is never transmitted to us.
  • Your content is never tracked. We never log, transmit, or profile the data you process. (We do use standard, aggregate website analytics and show ads - see the Analytics and Advertising sections below.)
  • No personal data collection. We do not ask for your name, email, or account, and we do not require registration to use any tool.
  • No server-side processing. There is no backend that receives, stores, or inspects your content.
  • Nothing is sold. We do not sell, rent, or trade any information about you or your data.

Information we do NOT collect

Because of the architecture above, there is a great deal of information that LocalOnly simply never receives. We do not collect:

  • The text, files, JSON, or other content you process with the tools.
  • Your name, email address, phone number, or postal address.
  • Account credentials, because there are no accounts.
  • Payment information, because the tools are free to use.
  • Precise geolocation data.
  • Behavioral profiles used to identify you as an individual across the web.

Information stored locally in your browser

Some optional conveniences rely on your browser's localStorage. This information is stored on your device only, stays under your control, and is never transmitted to us or anyone else. It may include:

  • Your theme preference (light, dark, or system).
  • Editor preferences such as indentation width and word wrap.
  • A short list of recently used tools for quick access.
  • Only if you explicitly enable it, the last input you used for a tool.

You can view and delete this data at any time using your browser's settings or developer tools. Clearing your browser storage removes it completely.

Analytics

To understand how the site is used and improve it, LocalOnly uses Google Analytics 4, a web analytics service provided by Google, deployed through Google Tag Manager. These services help us measure aggregate, non-identifying usage - for example which pages are most visited and general audience trends.

  • Google Analytics sets cookies (such as _ga and _ga_<id>) to distinguish returning visitors and measure sessions.
  • It collects standard technical data such as pages viewed, approximate region, device and browser type, and referring pages.
  • It never has access to the content you process with the tools - your data stays in your browser and is never sent to Google or to us.

You can prevent Google Analytics from using your data by installing the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on, by declining analytics cookies where a consent choice is offered, or by blocking cookies in your browser. For details on the specific cookies used, see our Cookie Policy. To learn how Google uses information from sites that use its services, see Google's partner-sites policy.

Advertising and Google AdSense

LocalOnly displays advertising to help keep the tools free. We use Google AdSense to serve these ads. Google is a third-party vendor, and its participation means some data is shared with Google as described below.

  • Google and its partners may use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to LocalOnly and to other websites.
  • Google's use of advertising cookies, including the DoubleClick DART cookie, enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visits to this and other sites on the internet.
  • Third-party vendors and ad networks may also use cookies and similar technologies to serve and measure ads on our pages.

You may opt out of personalized advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings at https://adssettings.google.com. You can also opt out of a third party's use of cookies for personalized advertising by visiting https://optout.aboutads.info. For more information about how Google uses data when you use our partners' sites, please review Google's advertising policies. Opting out of personalization does not remove ads; it means the ads you see may be less relevant to you.

Cookies

LocalOnly itself does not set advertising or tracking cookies. However, as explained above, Google AdSense and its partners may set third-party cookies to deliver and measure advertising, subject to your consent where required. For a full explanation of the cookies that may be set and how to manage them, please read our Cookie Policy.

GDPR (EEA and UK users)

If you are located in the European Economic Area (EEA) or the United Kingdom, the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and UK GDPR give you specific rights. Where we or our advertising partners process any personal data, we rely on the following legal bases:

  • Consent for non-essential and advertising cookies, which we request before such cookies are set.
  • Legitimate interests for operating and securing the service and for anonymous, aggregate analytics.

Subject to applicable law, you have the right to access, rectify, erase, restrict, or object to processing of your personal data, the right to data portability, and the right to withdraw consent at any time. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local supervisory authority. For the purposes of GDPR, the data controller can be reached at hello@sprintoak.com.

CCPA (California users)

If you are a California resident, the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), as amended by the CPRA, provides you with rights regarding your personal information, including the right to know what personal information is collected, the right to request deletion, and the right to opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information. LocalOnly does not sell your personal informationfor money. Where advertising cookies could be considered "sharing" under California law, you can limit this through the ad opt-out mechanisms described in the Advertising section above and through the consent choice we present. To exercise your rights, contact us at hello@sprintoak.com.

Consent for EEA and UK users

For visitors in the EEA and the UK, we present a consent choice before any non-essential or advertising cookies are set. Ads may be shown in a non-personalized manner unless you provide consent for personalized advertising. You can change or withdraw your choice at any time, and doing so will not prevent you from using the tools on LocalOnly.

Children's privacy

LocalOnly is a general-audience developer tool and is not directed to children under the age of 13 (or under 16 in certain jurisdictions). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us at hello@sprintoak.com and we will take appropriate steps.

International users

LocalOnlyis available worldwide. Because the tools run entirely in your browser, the processing of your content happens in your own browser, on your own device, wherever you are located. Limited interactions with third parties, such as loading advertising, may involve data transfers governed by those providers' own policies and safeguards.

Your legal rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, or delete personal data, and to object to or restrict certain processing. Because most of the data you work with never leaves your device, the fastest way to exercise control is directly in your browser: clear your localStorage and cookies to remove locally stored preferences and any advertising cookies. For requests that involve data held by us or our partners, contact hello@sprintoak.com and we will respond in accordance with applicable law.

Third-party links

Our pages may contain links to third-party websites, including our advertising partners and external documentation. We are not responsible for the privacy practices or content of those sites. We encourage you to review the privacy policy of every website you visit.

Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices, the tools we offer, or legal requirements. When we make material changes, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Your continued use of LocalOnly after an update constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
