This policy explains how cookies are used on LocalOnly - which we set ourselves, and which come from advertising partners.
Cookies are small text files that a website or its partners can store in your browser. They are widely used to remember preferences, keep a site working, and - in the case of advertising - to serve and measure ads. Similar technologies such as local storage and pixels can serve related purposes.
LocalOnly sets no first-party tracking cookies. We do not use cookies to identify you, follow you across sites, or profile your behavior. The tools themselves run entirely in your browser and do not require cookies to function.
Instead of tracking cookies, some optional conveniences use your browser's local storage, which stays on your device and is never sent to a server. This may include settings such as your theme choice or editor preferences. Local storage of this kind is a strictly functional mechanism and is not a tracking cookie. You can clear it at any time from your browser settings.
LocalOnly uses Google Analytics 4 (deployed via Google Tag Manager) to measure aggregate, anonymous website usage. Google Analytics sets first-party cookies to recognise returning visitors and measure sessions. These do not access the content you process. Typical analytics cookies include:
_ga - distinguishes individual visitors; expires after about 2 years._ga_<container-id> - persists session state for Google Analytics 4; expires after about 2 years._gid - distinguishes visitors; expires after about 24 hours (used by some Google Analytics configurations). You can opt out of Google Analytics with the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on, or by declining/blocking cookies as described below.
LocalOnly displays ads through Google AdSense. To provide this service, Google and its partners may set and read cookies in your browser to serve ads, personalize them based on your interests, limit how often you see a given ad, and measure ad performance. These advertising cookies are set by Google, not by LocalOnly.
As a third-party vendor, Google may use a cookie commonly known as the DoubleClick DART cookieto serve ads based on your visits to this and other sites on the internet. Google and other advertising vendors use cookies to serve ads based on your prior activity. You can learn more about how Google uses information from sites that use its services on Google's own policy pages.
You can control or opt out of personalized advertising cookies here:
You can also block or delete cookies directly through your browser settings. Most browsers let you refuse cookies, remove existing ones, or alert you when a cookie is being set. Note that blocking cookies may affect how third-party ads are displayed, but it will not affect the core functionality of LocalOnly's tools, since they do not rely on cookies.
Where required by law - for example for visitors in the EEA and the UK - you are shown a consent choice before non-essential advertising cookies are set, and personalized ads depend on the choice you make. You can change your choice at any time using the opt-out links above or your browser controls.
We may update this Cookie Policy as our use of advertising or technology evolves. Any changes will be reflected by the "Last updated" date above. For more on how we handle your data, please read our Privacy Policy.
